N5165M is officially a Cessna 172R, but with the upgraded engine and propeller it might as well be an "S" model. The 180 horsepower is now able to carry the full 2550 pounds of maximum take off weight, just like a C172S. In the panel you will find a Garmin G530 with WAAS capability.  The KAP140 autopilot can be a great resource to manage your workload.  Below the panel on the lower right hand side there is also a "hidden" stratus for all of you who fly with an iPad and pick up the incoming traffic.  This additional safety feature is worth its weight.  So, if you prefer to learn to fly the "steam gauges" N5165M will do you just right. The extra capability in horsepower and weight, combined with the standard "long range" fuel tanks, could carry you further and keep you in the air longer than your bladder will. A great basic trainer and a capable instrument platform for local "hamburger" runs or longer cross country flights to get an ice-cream cone at the beach.
